Description

Big Oaks is a hilly, secluded equestrian campground on beautiful Avery Lake. It is located in Montmorency County, just 10 miles southwest of Atlanta via County Road 487 and Avery Lake Road.

This rustic campground has plenty of opportunities for equestrian riding, hiking, boating and fishing. The facility includes buddy sites, a manure bunker, dumpster, vault toilets. One of the wells is solar powered but can also be powered by a 2,500 watt generator if needed. There is also a hand water pump near the registration kiosk. All sites have picket posts and site 10 has has corrals for two horses. Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No Reservations.

This campground is maintained with the help of the Alpena County Horseman’s Club.
