Description
There are 16 designated sites and a group area that can accommodate a maximum of 108 individuals. Both camping options can accommodate tents and small trailers. The campground includes vault toilets and potable water from a well-hand pump. There is also a submersible pump that requires a 5,000 watt generator to run.
The campground is located in the heart of the Manistee State Forest with access to many miles of equine trails and state forest roads suitable for riding. The trails offer water crossings and varying terrain for both experienced and non-experienced riders. The Manistee River and Hopkins Creek State Forest Campground are located within a few miles of the campground. Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
The state forest campground is a stop along the Shore-to-Shore Trail, a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding, that stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails. If a group will utilize multiple campgrounds along the Shore-to-Shore Trail, please contact the Cadillac Operations Service Center at 231-775-9727, ext. 6006.
This campground is maintained with the help of the Michigan Trail Riders Association.
